HydroBingo, the first hydrogen-powered ferry, has been presented

ANTWERP, BELGIUM – JAPAN 12th July 2021 – Hydro BINGO –the 19-ton aluminum alloy passenger ship, equipped with a hydrogen engine for propulsion, was successfully delivered to JPN H2YDRO from Tsuneishi Facilities&Craft, Fukuyama City Hiroshima, Japan.
Hydro BINGO is a catamaran type equipped with two dual-fuel engines utilizing hydrogen and diesel and is the world’s first passenger ship. It is an eco-ship with a system jointly developed with CMB that drastically reduces CO emissions and other GHG that cause global warming during navigation,  reducting CO emissions by up to 50% compared to conventional diesel engines.

Hydro BINGO is equipped with a mobile hydrogen trailer at the stern. The hydrogen is transferred from the diesel to the engine through a separate pipeline so that no hydrogen supply facilities are needed ashore and the hydrogen supply can be easily handled.  In addition, she has several hydrogen-related applications that reflect the dual-fuel ship design based on the requirements of the IGF Code and according to the “Safety Guidelines for Hydrogen Fueled and Fuel Cell Ships” made based on hydrogen fuel. This vessel has also received approval for inspection from the Japan Craft Inspection Organization (JCI).

We, JPN H2YDRO, are committed to the realisation of the hydrogen society by providing hydrogen engines for ships and port facilities, using the technologies developed through the joint development of this ship. “Hydro BINGO” Peculiars:
